the beast of gévaudan
I am currently on vacation in France with my mother and two cousins and was thinking, how could I incorporate my little jaunt to Paris into a post. I decided to talk a little bit about the beast of Gévaudan, a man eater who was believed to be werewolf by the people of the small town of Les Hubacs.
lions and tigers and coatis oh my!
I was sitting in my parents room watching animal planet when I watched a group of volunteers rescue fourteen cougars, five lions and one tiger from a neglectful home in Poetry, Texas. The floors were covered in feces and many of the cats were without water and on the verge of starvation, then these people came in in their lime green shirts and took them and gave them a better home.

Yesterday was mothers day and so in honor of all the mothers out there, on two legs and on four I am going to tell you a little bit about some very different animal mothers. Dogs adopting lions, whales adopting dolphins, and even a lion adopting an antelope.

Of a chimpanzee researcher at Gombe National Park. Does Gombe sound familiar to you?? Well, if not, it should. Gombe is where Jane Goodall began her groundbreaking research on chimpanzees, or Pan troglodytes.

Happy world tapir day! That’s right, those adorable little swimming elephant cows have their own day. Tapirs are pretty awesome animals, I particularly enjoy their color change as they grow up.

The last of the rhinos in Mozambique’s Limpopo National Park have been killed by poachers. That’s right. Every last rhino. The increased drive for ivory has been causing poachers to hunt down and kill African rhinos and elephants.
world penguin day
Happy belated world penguin day! Yeah, yeah, yeah I’m a day late but my crippling migraine kept me off the internet last night. Penguins are amazing! But many people are very misinformed about penguins. They imagine a bunch of birds living in the Antarctic being eaten by seals and polar bears. Wrong!
odd animal profile: okapi
It’s a zebra! No! It’s an antelope! No! It’s a giraffe! No! It’s an okapi!
There are not a lot of animals as strange as the okapi, with its black and white stripes, 12 inch long purple-prehensile tongue and its red goo it secretes from it’s skin.
